Another great resource for cookbook pitching is the podcast Everything Cookbooks. It’s hosted by four well established cookbook authors of both their own work and co-authoring others’. 📚
I so enjoyed this article Valentina. As a fellow Italian whose dream is to one day have a cookbook, this was hugely interesting. Thank you for sharing your experience with such candor and honesty!
What a wonderful post, I was almost thinking the last line would read that you and Cryille became a match ❤️ I have a cook book and CD called Allegro Al Dente -Pasta and Opera, an Australian publication which was published in 1994 written and produced by Jill Dupleix and her food critic husband Terry Durack together with the Victoria State Opera and many others in the Italian food scene. Perhaps you and Cyrille could do something similar, now wouldn’t that be amazing?
Thank you so much for that essay. I can relate, thinking how I feel about my early songs or my first scientific publications. But, like a musical record, once published, a book is no longer just yours; it becomes ours. Your cookbook is one of my all-time favorites, and I have lots. I love how personal it is, but not in the off-putting way of putting yourself on the cover. I love the writing and the introductions to the seasons, which I read again and again to transport me to those hills in Italy. And some of your recipes and techniques have become staples in my cooking. I finish my pasta in the sauce; I discovered how amazing fennel can be. I would love to have you sign my copy.
