Loved this! Maybe you’ll get more Bretons over the next few months. Several of our local markets are only open seasonally (July/August) so after a break I wonder if they need to venture further afield?
Excellent piece again this week, I just wish my husband loved markets as much as I do, but then there is not a lot I love that he does also, his only exception is me…
You are bringing back some delicious memories with this post. My family and I spent a week in Aix at the end of December/beginning of January a few years ago. We loved shopping at the daily market there, as well as the larger one in (I think) Arles. Beyond the produce, the selection of local cheeses made me swoon. Beautiful photos, Valentina. Thanks for the kind mention, too!
Can I come and you can take me around the market please? I remember fondly our market tour with Kate although it was raining cats and dogs. The bakery stop afterward was incredible.
I was at a small butchery in La Seyne Sur Mer, talking, in English, with my travel companions about what we wanted. Feeling very proud of my French, I walked up to the counter and ordered en français. The kind butcher told me (in English) that I had ordered something completely different than what my friends and I agreed on. It was hilarious. So much for my French!
Great post, I loved reading it even though I pretty much know how to navigate a French market! You just organized everything so well and brought up many helpful ideas. Just one tiny point -- aren't you talking about "Fouace" from Aveyron, not "Fougasse?" (Says one who lives here in...Aveyron!)

Amazing post, I loved it. Market days in France are the best!

What an amazing post and research for a trip to the French market. I felt like I was tagging along in your basket!
This was such a fun read!!
