Thank you for a very informative article. What do you think of Setaro brand pastas. I’ve purchased theirs before and I liked them very much. Would love your opinion. Thank you

Thank you for your comment! Setaro is very good. It's a pastificio from Naples, we find it often in supermarketsand it's definitely worth the purchase. You can go for it if you find it!

In Greece, the only 'italian' pasta I can find in the local supermarkets is DeCicco and the Barilla brand. I buy Misko, an old Greek brand, a 'classic' brand of pasta. It comes in the various shapes and sizes. The large macaronia used for pastitsio cost apprx. 3,40 euro and the spaggheti costs 2,40 euro for a 500 gr package...I can't say that this pasta is freshly dried, but it is fragrant once you start to boil it. I just looked at the box to take a photo for you....omgoodness...WHATS THE POINT???? I just now read that Misko is owned by Barilla Hellas....I can't believe it..!!!! And here I was commenting about what I thought was still a Greek pasta!!! lolol....globalization has spread its wings even into pasta industry...

Oh Barilla owns LOTS of other brands. They also own lots of snacks brands, It's a huge thing. I have never been to Greece (and I can't wait to go!) so I've never seen supermarkets but honestly DeCecco is a good pasta!

Misko is probably Greek, as in: it's produced in Greece but with grains sourced from all over the world. Just like Barilla is produced in Parma but with grains that come from all over the world...it's definitely the least Italian pasta in my eyes.

Thank you so much for this insight!! I love knowing about what's around the supermarkets in the world, thank you so much for thinking of taking a picture for me!

Thank you so much for this great advice! I wonder what you would think about Trader Joe's Organic Italian Artisan Pasta that comes in a few different shapes. It is from Puglia and has the light color and starchy surface that you describe. Too bad the comments don't allow including a photo.

Thank you so much for reading! I think that the quality of pasta went up considerably in recent years, and I’ve always heard great things about Trader Joe’s. Given your description it sounds like very good pasta! You could try and send me a picture via private message on my instagram @valentinahortus if you’d like, I would really appreciate that.
